Chinese New Year has always been a time of gathering, blessings, and harmony shared within the family — a season where values and rituals are practiced without muss or fuss, and its cultural significance passed on.

In the Chinese culture, action speaks louder than words. Literally! Love is seldom articulated through words, instead conveyed through actions, rituals, and folk art that carry meaning across generations. One such expression is the Cloth Tiger (布老虎), often handmade by parents or grandparents and gifted to children as a gesture of care and safeguarding. More than a keepsake, it embodies blessings for safety, courage, wisdom, and good health, a gentle yet powerful form of protection shaped by intention and love.

Inspired by this enduring folk art, Kwai Chai Hong presents the 2026 Chinese New Year art installation, Guardians of Legacy（十二福星）.

Drawing from the legacy of the Cloth Tiger, the installation introduces twelve Zodiac Guardians, each representing a distinct blessing (祝福) from courage and resilience to gentleness, harmony, joy, and prosperity. Conceptualised by Kwai Chai Hong’s Co-Founder Javier Chor, these guardians reflect how care and protection evolve through time, yet remain rooted in the same parental instinct to watch over the well-being of the next generation. To top this off, we are so thrilled to be collaborating with none other than Guardian Malaysia, a truly befitting partnership sharing the common ultimate goal - prioritizing the well-being of our loved ones (their customers) since it began its operations in Malaysia in <insert year>. Lets just say, we found our perfect match!
